Starting inside the 6th row, Ty quickly went to the outside lane, which was moving quicker than the inside. He advanced several spots at the onset of the race. Ty methodically passed cars, making his way up to the 5th position by lap12, and up into the 3rd spot by lap 24. A caution came out with 23 to go and tightened the pack of cars for the restart. The restart of the 91 car was flawless but a caution came out in the back of the field as the pack crossed the line. With another great restart, he jumped into the second spot with 22 to go. Ty was working on leader Steve Apel who lead the entire race up to that point. Ty tried the inside but couldn’t complete the pass and had to back out. He made another attempt on the inside and then on the outside. He then backed off and followed Steve for several laps. Ty successfully made another attempt to make the pass for the lead with 7 to go. Casey Johnson followed and passed for second. Ty began pulling away as the laps would down but with 2 to go a caution flag came out. The field reset and the green flag dropped one last time.
