“Hell Week” presents multiple races in multiple days

July 9, Ty raced at Lacrosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, WI. In true Ty fashion, he set fast time and won the 25 lap feature. This began the week and a half of non-stop traveling, testing, practicing and racing for Ty and his crew.

July 10 was a practice race at Slinger to make certain the car that was in an accident at Rockford was ok to race. Ty qualified 7th and started 6th. He was racing in the 4th position when his car began overheating. Not willing to push it, Ty pulled off the track.

July 11 Ty left for North Carolina to test live pit stops at Roush Fenway Racing he felt confident with the education that he took away from that session.

July 13 brought a practice session for the white race in Kaukauna.

July 14 was the white race at WIR in Kaukauna, WI. Ty qualified 6th and was inverted to outside front row. He was able to cross the finish line in the second spot.

July 15 brought the long journey to Grundy, Illinois. The 100 lap feature at Grundy Co Speedway was one for the books for sure! Ty knew he had a stout car in practice but ended up p6 for qualifying. The roll and invert left him in a 4th place starting position. When the green flag dropped, He made his way to p1 by lap 13 and checked out. The car was unbelievably fast. He managed to pull away and lap a good number of cars when with 23 to go, He lost all power and had to be taken off the track pushed by a wrecker. The team frantically diagnosed and fixed a loose connection with the battery and rushed back out on to the track as the field took the green. (We were not laps down according to the ARCA officials because we made it out before the field took the green.) The car was still crazy fast but There was a loss of power steering. With 21 to go, another caution came out. When the green dropped, Ty restarted 5th and worked his way up to the front and passed for p1 with 4 to go and ended up taking the checkered flag p1!

July 16 brought Ty back to LaCrosse for double feature night. Ty ended up with a dnf of the first feature due to contact with another car that drove him high up into the wall. The second feature was much more successful with a p1 finish.

Sunday, July 17 bright Ty back to Indiana for testing with the ARCA car and the. Back home for practice on Monday July 18 for slinger nationals.

Tuesday, July 18 was the much anticipated slinger nationals. Ty qualified p4 and started the feature p4. He had a rocket underneath him as he bolted up front. He battled hard when he and another driver made contact and he caution came out. Both drivers got sent to the back. Ty regained his top spot on lap 71 and was leading by a straightaway in no time. With 55 to go, His race ended early with a tire that was low on air. All in all it was a great slinger nationals despite the fact that we didn’t get the finish we wanted.
